AI Policy

Indonesia Forum on Labour and Productivity (IFLP) recognizes the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to support academic research and scholarly publishing. The journal permits the responsible use of AI-assisted tools while maintaining high standards of originality, transparency, academic integrity, and research accountability.

This policy applies to all authors, editors, and reviewers involved in the proceeding's publication process and is informed by internationally recognized publication ethics principles.

1. Use of AI by Authors

Authors may use AI-assisted technologies, including generative AI and large language models (LLMs), to support manuscript preparation, provided that their use is responsible, transparent, and does not compromise research integrity.

Acceptable uses may include:

  • Language editing, grammar correction, and improving manuscript readability.
  • Assisting with literature searches and research organization.
  • Supporting data processing, coding, and statistical analysis, subject to appropriate methodological validation.
  • Assisting with the preparation of tables, figures, and other research materials, provided that their accuracy and authenticity are verified.

AI-generated content must not replace the authors' original intellectual contributions, critical analysis, scientific reasoning, or interpretation of research findings.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, and integrity of all submitted content, including materials developed with AI assistance.

2. AI Disclosure and Transparency

Authors must disclose the use of generative AI tools that materially contribute to manuscript preparation, data analysis, content generation, or research interpretation.

The disclosure should identify the AI tool used, its purpose, and the extent of its contribution. AI assistance in manuscript writing should be acknowledged in the appropriate section, while AI applications involving research methods, data analysis, or the generation of research materials should be explained in the Research Method section.

Routine spelling and grammar corrections that do not materially affect the manuscript's intellectual content generally do not require detailed disclosure.

Failure to disclose substantial AI-generated contributions may result in editorial action.

3. AI Authorship and Research Integrity

AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for research integrity, originality, or publication ethics.

Authors must not use AI technologies to:

  • Fabricate, falsify, or manipulate research data and findings.
  • Generate fictitious references, citations, or research evidence.
  • Misrepresent AI-generated content as independently verified scientific findings.
  • Produce misleading images, figures, or research materials.
  • Engage in plagiarism, academic misconduct, or unethical research practices.

All AI-assisted content must be critically reviewed, verified, and appropriately referenced by the authors.

4. AI Detection and Editorial Assessment

IFLP may use AI detection tools as part of its initial editorial screening to assess the potential presence of AI-generated content.

In accordance with the journal's manuscript submission requirements, an AI detection threshold of 30% may be considered during preliminary screening, subject to editorial assessment.

AI detection results are treated as supporting indicators rather than definitive evidence of misconduct. Editorial decisions will consider the manuscript's originality, scientific quality, transparency of AI use, and compliance with publication ethics.

Authors may be requested to provide clarification or revise manuscripts when substantial or undisclosed AI-generated content is identified.

5. Use of AI by Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers must exercise professional judgment, independence, and confidentiality when using AI-assisted technologies.

Submitted manuscripts and confidential research materials must not be uploaded to external AI systems without appropriate authorization and adequate confidentiality safeguards.

AI tools must not replace the independent scientific evaluation, critical assessment, or editorial decisions of editors and reviewers.

Any authorized AI assistance in the peer-review or editorial process must be disclosed appropriately and remain subject to human oversight.

6. Ethical Violations and Editorial Actions

Suspected misuse of AI technologies will be evaluated in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics and Plagiarism Policy.

Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, editorial actions may include requesting clarification, manuscript revision, rejection, or appropriate post-publication corrections or retractions.

All allegations will be handled fairly, transparently, and in accordance with relevant publication ethics principles.

7. Commitment to Responsible AI Use

IFLP supports the responsible integration of AI technologies in academic research while emphasizing human accountability, scientific originality, and ethical transparency.

The journal will periodically review its AI policy to reflect technological developments and evolving international standards in scholarly publishing.
